Both your EGR system and your DPF are essential parts of your after-treatment system. At DT Services, we provide a wide variety of services designed to complement these specific systems. For EGR and DPF service in Idaho Falls, give us a call today!
Your EGR system is designed to reduce the amount of NOx produced by your heavy-duty diesel engine. For perspective, NOx production is highly dependent on your engine’s combustion temperature. The hotter your engine gets, the more NOx is produced! As such, the ultimate goal of your EGR system is to lower your combustion temperature.
To lower your combustion temperature, your EGR system recirculates a portion of your spent exhaust fumes through a cooler and then back into your air intake. This influx of cold air drops your engine’s overall temperature and decreases NOx production.
Your DPF is designed to capture carbon, soot, and other diesel particulate matter before it can exit your truck’s exhaust system. It does this using a fine mesh-like material that captures the vast majority of what goes through it. One thing to keep in mind is that your DPF has a finite storage capacity. This means it will eventually need to be cleaned. Otherwise, your DPF will get clogged and your engine will face immense back pressure.
Whether you’ve got a seized EGR valve or a DPF that’s not regenerating properly, you can count on us here at DT Services to have your back. We have the tools, equipment, and parts to replace seized EGR valves. We’ve got the software to override DPF regeneration sensors to force regeneration and get your DPF cleaned out. At the end of the day, there aren’t many after-treatment services we’re unable to provide.
